72 years.
Passed away peacefully at Finlandia Village on Sunday, November 22nd, 2020.
Beloved wife and best friend of 47 years to Paul McMurray. Together they enjoyed playing tennis, cross country skiing on the Laurentian Trails, canoeing, cycling, and travelling around the world together. They enjoyed many happy summers at their camp on Johnney Lake and many winters in Florida. Maire was born in Finland on February 5th, 1948. She worked at Vale in the Nickel Refinery maintenance department for many years and thoroughly enjoyed her job and the people she worked with. She loved to garden, swimming and play sports.
She will be sadly missed by Paul’s family, his children, Stephen (Carol), Lynne (John), Sharon, and Glenn and their children. Predeceased by her parents Toivo and Sanni Vuorensyrjia (nee Ramakko). She is survived by her brother Ray (Gisella) of Massey. She will also be missed by her dear friend Pirjo Hodder.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Finlandia Village for the great care given to Maire. There will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.
