Obituary for Joyce Annette Vaillancourt (Clement)

On Wednesday, October 7th, 2020, days before her 77th birthday, surrounded by her loving family, Joyce Vaillancourt (nee Clement formerly Jokinen) passed away. Beloved wife of Gilbert Vaillancourt, loving mother to Sandra (Joel Mackey), Lynn (Dave MacDonell), and Jennifer (Rick Lacroix). Cherished by her grandchildren Jeffrey and Justin Ziminski, Paulina Tymchuk, and Lauren, Megan, and Sophia Santi. Fondly remembered by those in her blended family from the Mackey, MacDonell, Lacroix, and Vaillancourt clans. Joyce is survived by her sister Gloria and predeceased by brothers Ron and Arnold, and her parents Ernest and Emma. She will be missed by her in-laws in both the Jokinen and Vaillancourt families. Joyce worked for many years in the insurance industry. Following the death of her first husband, Onni Jokinen, she was a faithful volunteer in the Palliative Support Group of Sudbury. She also volunteered extensively at St Stanislaus Church in Copper Cliff. She also loved volunteering at her daughter’s school, working with students with special needs, but most of all she loved her family. Fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren, she loved to tell everyone about their accomplishments, big and small. Joyce was diagnosed with multi-organ failure three years ago, requiring three times weekly dialysis. She managed this with amazing good humour and was a sought after patient on the dialysis floor. Although she was not a candidate for organ transplant, in her memory, we would ask that you consider signing your organ donor card, www.beadonor.ca
