Obituary for Cyril Matthieu
Cyril Joseph Matthieu
November 22nd, 1930 – September 11th, 2020
Beloved husband for 60 years of Delorese (Depatie) Matthieu predeceased 2012. Cyril will be sadly missed by his many children – Tim, Jim (Judy), Rachel (Tubby predeceased), Murray, Tom (Donna), Mike (Rosemarie), Perry, Richard (Donna predeceased), and Ted (Tracy). He will be missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loving brother of Veronica Fior (husband Louis) both predeceased, Rev. Charles Matthieu predeceased, Anna Ouelette (husband Don predeceased), Parnel Matthieu (wife Joanne predeceased) and Mary Matthieu predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nepehws.
Cyril had a long career with INCO. He was heavily involved with numerous organizations, including the Credit Union, the Holy Trinity Men’s Club, and Antwerp Playground. He was an avid hockey player in his younger years and later coached hockey as well. Cyril still lived at the family camp on Rock Lake at the time of his passing.
The family are requesting donations to the Alzheimer Society in lieu of flowers.
Funeral Visitation in the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. (Friends may call 2-5pm and 7-9pm Tuesday and after 10am Wednesday.) Funeral service in the R. J. Barnard Chapel, Wednesday, September 16th, 2020 at 11:30am. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Due to COVID-19 Pandemic directives, 50 people or fewer are permitted in the visitation room, and 80 or fewer in the chapel. Face masks are mandatory.
