Obituary for Marjorie Patricia Macdonald (McCafferey)

It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of our mother Marjorie Patricia Macdonald (nee McCaffrey) in her 91st year, peacefully at Heath Sciences North on Monday, September 7th, 2020. Marjorie was born in Renfrew in 1930 and is the daughter of Tom and Mary McCaffrey (predeceased). Marjorie and her family moved to Falconbridge in 1933. Beloved wife of Hugh John Macdonald (predeceased 2006). They were married September 1st, 1951 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Garson. Loving mother of Paddy (Cathy), Lorna Jarmovich (Gary), Mary Catherine Egan, Peter (Jennifer). Cherished grandmother of Donald (Ashley), Krista (Jason), Scott (Kathy), Kevin (Stacey), Melissa, Nick, Haley, Hayden, and great grandmother of Julien, Tucker, Elizabeth, Parker and Hannah. Marjorie was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 336 and was a member of the St. John’s CWL for 67 years as well as the Nickel Center Seniors. She was always there to lend a hand and volunteer at many social gatherings, taking great pride in her time spent at the various organizations she was part of. For over 50 years, Marjorie played cards with the “Falconbridge Gals!” and enjoyed curling and golfing with her friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially during the holiday season and cherished weekly visits from her children and many grandchildren. Marjorie will be sadly missed by her dear family, friends and neighbours. A huge and sincere thank you goes out to the wonderful staff at Westmount Retirement Residence and the 8th floor North staff at HSN who has taken great care of our mother Marjorie over the recent months. A memorial mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 255 Church St, Garson on Friday, September 11th, 2020 at 10am. Friends may gather at the church after 9:30am. Donations to the St. John’s Cemetery Fund would be gratefully appreciated.
