Maria Cundari (nee Carbone) “Mary” - 97 years old. Sunday, August 30th, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Villa. Wife of Romeo Cundari (predeceased). Daughter of Antonio and Angelina Carbone both predeceased. Mother of Angelo (Suzanne) of Sudbury and Teresa Ann (Leo McBride) of Wasaga Beach. Beloved Nanna of Robert (Jane), Andrea, Michael (Amanda), Matthew (Jennifer), and Erin Hare (Jamie). Cherished Nanna Mary to great-grandchildren Noah, Holly, Magnus, Peyton, Josephine, Mackenzie, and Edouard. Dear sister of John predeceased (Lillian), Art (Beth predeceased), Rose McCann predeceased, and Rita Rollins (Don predeceased). Sister-in-law of Jimmy predeceased, Freddie predeceased, Sammy predeceased, and Josephine predeceased. Loving aunt to many loving nieces and nephews and their families.

Born in Cellara, Calabria, Italy, in 1923. Immigrated to Creighton Mine in 1933, where she married Romeo in 1944. Was a resident of Copper Cliff for 73 years. A devout Roman Catholic, Mary was a faithful parishioner of St. Stanislaus Parish in Copper Cliff. She was a long-standing member of Societa Italia di Copper Cliff and the Catholic Women’s League and enjoyed attending their many events and functions. God and family were her two priorities her entire life. In addition to Romeo - the love of her life - Mary’s love and dedication to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was steadfast.

Mary was happiest around her kitchen on special occasions when she had her whole family gathered, to sit together for a home-cooked meal. Each meal was specific to the occasion, whether a simple Sunday or a holiday - Mary felt immense pride and satisfaction knowing that she could provide for the people she loved the most.

The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa for their excellent care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Villa or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Its been so hard to visit Mary at St.Joes over the last several months - and we did have some fun visits prior to that, always a smile and a warm welcome, lots of memories were shared.
Mary was such a gentle soul who loved her family and friends.
Sincere condolences to the family, Mary will be sadly missed by all.

Rosemary, thank you for your kind words about your memories of Mom. She loved to see you and always would tell us when you were in to visit her and about how enjoyable your company was. Thank you for thinking of us. Angelo, Teresa Ann and families

The Fera, Carbone and Cundari families were very close. Mary and I grew up together in Creighton Mine. We were childhood friends and went to school together.
I extend my deepest condolences to the family.

Angelo, Teresa Ann and families,
Garry and I are so sad to hear about the loss of your dear mom, Mary. The love and generous care she so devotely gave to her family, she also gave to her friends. She was a special friend to us.
She had a great friendship with my Mother and after Mom passed, she contiued it with me. We kept in touch by phone after we moved to Richmond Hill. I will miss our calls. I could always count on her cheerful conversations.
We hope all your treasured memories and the love and support of family and friends will comfort you during this sad time.
We regret that we cannot be with you but please know that our prayers, love and support are with you.
Louise and Garry Young

Louise and Garry, As your mom's good friend, you also came to know Mom very well. She always loved receiving your calls. We appreciate your kind words and loving thoughts. Mary and Gilda are now enjoying a cup of coffee while chatting about this and that, as they did for so many years. Thank you for thinking of us. Angelo, Teresa Ann and families
