Obituary for James Vincent Adriaans
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our hero on Thursday, August 20th, 2020 at the age of 61 years.
The world’s most wonderful man, James Adriaans, left this world in the arms of his loving family. He reunites with his beloved mother, brother, uncle, and Merlin. Cherished father of Rachel (Jordan) and Ryan. Devoted spouse to Colette and cat Dad to Rusty. Beloved son of Frank and Wynn and Nancy predeceased and Tom. Loving big brother to Frank predeceased and Michele (Phil). Adored uncle to Cassandra. Dearly remembered by his former spouse and mother of his children, Gail. He will be greatly missed by the “Dutchie” side of the family, Hendersons, “Bell Guys”, and lifelong friends and hunting and fishing buddies.
James was an extremely hard-working man who worked tirelessly at Bell for almost 40 years. He worked even harder at home, saying that there was always a “Jim Job” to do, but he knew when to crank an Adriaans classic and spin his loved ones around. James was a true outdoorsman, teaching us all how to camp, hunt, boat, and fish and appreciate the beauty of nature. He was the ultimate protector to his family, friends, and animals and lived his life courageously with an enormous strength of spirit. We are grateful that he is now at peace, knowing he has entered the light from the lighthouse after braving the storm.
Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home (233 Larch Street, Sudbury) Thursday, August 27th, 2020 at 1:00 pm. Friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday after 12 noon. Interment in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Due to COVID-19 Pandemic directives, 50 people or fewer are permitted in the visitation room, and 80 or fewer in the chapel. Face masks are mandatory.
Donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation or Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters Fish and Wildlife Fund would be appreciated by the family.
