Obituary for Michael John Francis Ovis

In his 32 calendar years, Michael lived 1000. Michael truly lived his life to the fullest. He had the best stories and in his vast travels, always made many friends along the way from all walks of life. He never said no to adventure and loved the excitement of learning new things and seeing new places. When Michael was interested in something, he completely immersed himself in it, finding every little detail that he could. He was a big little kid at heart who loved the outdoors, history, astronomy, playing video games, cars and watching documentaries.

Michael had many passions, but everyone who knew him, knew that he was the most passionate about his Doberman’s; “Major Pain”, “Stevie Beaver and “Dany Dandelion”, Those were his girls, and he was the best doggy-dad that anyone could ever ask for. No really, he was. He loved animals and had such a big big BIG heart.

Michael was always smiling, laughing, making jokes and never hesitated to help anyone, especially his friends that needed it. He loved his mother Cecil-Lee, his brother Ben and his Father John and was always loyal to them. He was generous to a fault, he also loved his friends and was never one to hold a grudge. Someone that you could count on to help you out of any situation. He was the guy you would get a random midnight phone call from just to catch up. He was the guy that would hit the brakes in the middle of the road just to let somebody cross. He was someone who was also amazing with kids because he was a big kid himself.

He had a deep respect for his Papa, who was a Shriner and WW2 vet. This led to Michaels profound respect for war veterans and the elderly. Michael loved and cherished his Nana and still years after her passing spoke so highly of her. Michael had amazing manners which he learned from her. Something that is lost on most of us today. He was also an amazing, and supportive partner to Cassy with whom he shared his love of Doberman’s and everything under the sun with. She was his shining star and guiding light.

He loved music, especially 90’s hip hop. He had excellent taste in music which filled the house and always pumped through the speakers of his car. Especially his Malibu. Michael will be deeply missed and always loved by Cassy, Benji and Dad. He was the cherished grandson of Irene “Noni” and Frank Ovis. Dear nephew to Mary-Anne, Steve, Alex and Valerie and cousin to Frankie, Donald, Bradley, Steacy, Matthew, Mark and Nathan. Dear uncle to Cecilia. Missed by his best friend Bradley Simmons. Predeceased by his mother Cecil-Lee Ovis, grandparents Cecil and Teddy Westervelt and god father Douglas Simmons. Michael had such a big personality, and the world will truly shine a little less bright without him.
