Obituary for Leonard Freeman Duffy
Leonard Freeman Duffy 90 years
(September 13th, 1929 - July 30th, 2020)
Predeceased by his wife Elsie Duffy in 1989, he is survived by children David (Janet) of Sudbury, Michael (Anne) of Quebec City, and Susan (Sam) of Ottawa. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Born in St. John, New Brunswick he married Elsie Lorraine Farnham in 1953. In the fifties he worked construction projects in New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario including hydro dams and the St. Lawrence Seaway. After having a child born in each province in which he worked, they settled down in the Lively area where he worked for INCO, retiring in 1986 after serving as a maintenance mechanic. He was active in the Steelworkers Local 6500 and served as chief steward and on the bargaining committee. He had a natural talent for musical instruments and mechanics. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the camp on Lake Agnew.
In his ailing years he still maintained his faith in Jesus, and was always a positive thinker.
A graveside committal service will be held on Friday, August 7th 1:00 PM at the Waters Cemetery on White Road, off Jacobson Dr., off Municipal Road 24, in Walden. There will be no visitation before nor socializing afterwards due to the COVID crisis. Due to COVID restrictions the maximum of 100 guests applies. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Christ Anglican Church in Lively, or the Alzheimer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, www.lougheed.org.
