Obituary for Helen Smilanich (Pasichnyk)

In loving memory of Helen Smilanich (nee Pasichnyk) who passed away peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2020 at her residence with her family by her side. Helen was born in Levack and moved to Sudbury at a young age. She later met Louis, the love of her life, who she married in 1945. Louis predeceased her in 2003 after 58 wonderful years of marriage. Predeceased by her parents Andrew and Nadia and her brother Walter. She is survived by her brother Bill (wife Ada Mae predeceased). Helen will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her brother Bill, nieces, nephews and their families as well as her friends. Helen took great pride working at Lafrance Furs where she worked for over 40 years. Helen and Louis spent many wonderful years at their camp on Lake Penage where special memories were made and will be treasured. Helen was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage, playing her mandolin and enjoyed a great game of shanghai bridge. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the health care workers who assisted her over the years. The family will honor her wishes of no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place and a private internment was held in the family plot at the Park Lawn Cemetery. If you so wish donations in her memory can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Sudbury Chapter. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
