Obituary for Aline Hay (Guillemette)

In loving memory of Aline Marie Irene Hay (nee Guillemette) 78 years. Passed away Tuesday, July 7th, 2020 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Beloved wife of 56 years (in their 57th year) of Robert Hay. Loving mother of Darrell (Susan) of Thunder Bay, Michael (Maureen) of Guelph and Lori-Ann at home. Cherished grandmother of Sarah, Nathan, Mikalyn, Ryann and Neila. Dear daughter of Ernestine and Aurélien Guillemette both predeceased and sister of Gilbert, Denis (predeceased), Raymond, Paulette, Richard and Lucie. She will be sadly missed by her numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Aline was a devout catholic who attended and volunteered at St. Patrick’s Church. She also volunteered and supported many organizations and charities in our community including The Sudbury Lupus Group. Aline worked as a long-time hairdresser at Chez Nils and in retail, including Dufferin Games. Aline was genuine, she saw the good in everyone and welcomed all with open arms and a big hug. She made friends fast and held them close to her for life as all that knew her can attest to. She reveled in their accomplishments and their families and did her best to never miss an event. Aline loved hosting parties and made each occasion unique and special. She always made room at her table and served home-made foods and deserts tailored to the season prepared with love. Aline was meticulous about keeping her St Charles lake home of 48 years beautifully decorated, warm, inviting and immaculate. If "Cleaning" was an Olympic sport, she would have won multiple golds! She jumped at opportunities to have fun, to travel, and enjoy family. She also enjoyed her walking group and their many excursions. She always stood by to cheer and support all those she held close to her heart through their life events and achievements especially her grandchildren. She lived on the brightside and despite challenges, never complained, even in her battles with cancer. She was gracious and thankful for every moment and we are grateful for every moment we had with her. She will be remembered lovingly and forever missed by all who knew her.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 39 Walford Road, on Monday July 13th, 2020 at 11:00 am. A celebration of life will follow at a future time. Donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation or Lupus Ontario would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Services.
