In Loving Memory of Harold J. Martin, 92 years. Saturday, June 6th, 2020 at Finlandia Village, Sudbury. Beloved husband of Doreen (nee Thompson), whom he married on August 3rd, 1949. Loving father of four sons: Sam (Lisa), Ron (Briitta), Kevin (Jane), and Brian (Mailis). Cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Born in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland, on May 6th, 1928, Harold began his career playing professional soccer in Ireland. After immigrating to Canada in 1953, he joined the Toronto police force for six years before settling in Sudbury. He worked in the construction industry for 35 years, where he held several leadership positions with local and provincial contractor associations.

Harold was known as a gentle man and a gentleman. He loved playing golf, especially with his sons. He was a member at the Idylwylde for over 40 years, where he was known as a great competitor and a gracious winner and loser. Harold also loved going to sporting events to watch his sons and grandchildren play. He always enjoyed leisurely boat rides on Lake Nepahwin with family and friends.

At Harold’s request, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home.
