Obituary for Emilia Sekerak (Bulik)

Emilia Ludmila Sekerak
May 1, 1930 - May 28, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Emilia Sekerak (nee Bulik) at her home in Sudbury. Emilia was born to Stefan and Maria Bulik in Slovakia on May 1, 1930. She married Stefan Sekerak and emigrated to Moose Jaw in the 1960s. Soon after they settled in Sudbury. Emilia met the challenges of quickly learning English and worked for many years as a bookkeeper. Her husband predeceased her in 1987. Emilia met Joe Gudelevicius in 1989 and they became loving companions until his passing in 2010. Emilia will be remembered as a gentle and kind woman with an immense capacity to love, especially all things related to nature. She loved her beautiful flower gardens. She will also be remembered for her keen intellect and enjoyed sitting with company at her dining room table. Emilia had many dear friends, and will be missed by Maria, Ivan, Agatha, Peter, Caroline, and Davis. She was like one of the family after meeting Joe, and will be sadly missed by his children, spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, including the youngest, named after her. Joe’s sister-in-law and brother-in-law Fred and Trudy Zippel (both predeceased) were also close to Emelia, along with their daughter Carol, who was very supportive and caring in these last few years. Thank you also to Dr. Gibb and the caregivers from the March of Dimes. Emelia was aware that without this help she could not have remained living in her own home, something she cherished greatly. In her memory, the next time you see a beautiful flower, think of her.
