Obituary for Sherry Madge Riddoch (Dice)

In loving memory of Sherry Riddoch (nee Dice) who passed away Saturday, April 25th, 2020 at Health Sciences North in her 84th year. She is the beloved wife of Ed Riddoch whom she married in Espanola on August 29th, 1960. Cherished mother of Rhonda Macintyre (Nicholas) of Hazlemere, Bucks, UK and Sam Riddoch of Westcliff, Essex, UK. Loving grandmother of Rachel, Claire and Alistair. Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Liz Rosenberg and nephew Eitan both of Toronto, cousins Brian Brechtel of Texas, Wayne Davidson of BC, Herb Watkins (Diane) of Espanola, Velma Lynn of Pembroke, Cupey Makela (Everett), Evelyn Fieretto (Dante), Paula Mae all of Sudbury and Don Champagne of Australia. Predeceased by her parents Sam and Alma (Champagne) Dice.
Sherry graduated from Queens University in 1960 with a degree in Math and Philosophy. She taught at Cobourg Collegiate, Sudbury Tech and Sudbury Secondary. She was an extremely creative person. Christmas was filled with handmade items, such as the grandkids stockings, quilted tree skirt and the painted decorations. She passed on her love of playing cards, her love of math and showing there were many ways to solve a problem to her family. When her children were young, the trips home from Hannah Lake were filled with her story telling of Shakespeare’s work inspiring their love for theatre. “In practice, she taught us how to build a fine and secure nest with love and determination. In legacy she gave us wings to fly and soar far – to follow our own paths and to settle fair homes. Adieu Maman”.
In keeping with Sherry’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. If desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke, the Walden Women’s Federation or the Sudbury SPCA Centre would be appreciated. (Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Services)
