Obituary for GianLuigi Mior

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, GianLuigi Mior. Our Dad lit up the room with his boisterous spirit and his ready smile. His stories of the old country, hunting and soccer, kept us engaged for hours, even if it was the 20th time we heard them. To his hunting friends, he was known as “The King”, and he was the self-proclaimed #1 soccer referee in Sudbury. Although he often joked about the worn-out carpet in front of his apartment door from all the women who were visiting him day and night, he is now dancing eternity away with his one true love, Vivian. Sorry, Ladies! As for his friends at the Caruso Club, hopefully you will finally be able to win a few hands at cards with his seat empty. Whether at Lac Clair in Noelville or Casa Bella, he was very proud of his gardens and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labour with everyone. He was very proud of his Italian heritage, coming here from the Old Country on a boat, at the age of 17 with a jacket with no collar…
He loved his family more than anything, and even in the end made choices so that his family wouldn’t suffer.

He leaves behind his many stories in the care of his loving family; Sandra (Dennis), Dorianna, David, and Gianni Jr. (Tara). His grandchildren, Mitchell (Liam), Amber (Chris), Ethan, Marc (Sonya), Samantha (James), Alyssa (Scott), Andrea (Justin), Dillon, Blake, Oliver, and Avery. His great grandchildren, Norah, Vivienne, Peyton, Luca, Landon, Desmond, Ezri, Cooper, Eli, Jack, Pearson, Max, Hudson, and Benson, and his favourite of them all, Bishop. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Luisa Rinaldi (Gilbert predeceased), his sister-in-law Patricia Buttazzoni (Luciano), and his many nieces and nephews.
We will be forever grateful to Dr. Mirka and her staff for the time, care, and kindness that they have shown our dad throughout the years, and especially through this difficult time.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In the meantime, please raise a glass in his honour. And Dad, it’s unquestionably “tomorrow”.
Donations to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters or the MS Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, www.lougheed.org.
