Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Jewel Conley (Griese)

Elizabeth “Betty" Conley (Griese)

In loving memory of Betty Conley, who passed peacefully at Finlandia Village on April 5th, 2020 at the age of 84. Elizabeth Jewel was born on August 8th, 1935 in Jewelville, Ontario to Leonard and Marie Griese (predeceased). She was raised in Palmer Rapids, Ontario, where she married the love of her life, Robert Wray Conley. Betty and Bob moved to Sudbury in 1953 where Bob was working for INCO. Bob and Betty were married for nearly 60 years when Bob passed away in 2012. Betty is survived by her loving sons and their wives, Kevin and Mona, Dale and Sandra. She will be forever in the hearts of her granddaughters Sara (Adam Swanson), Ashleigh (Shawn Cayer) and Gillian (Richard Lamothe), whose lives she impacted so greatly. She was so proud of her great grandsons Reid, Owen, Samuel, Evan, and Alex, who will hear her life stories for years to come. Betty is survived by her sisters Millie (Fred Grosklag), and Rita (David Vanderburg, predeceased). Special Aunt to Keith (Joanne) Conley, Kelly Conley, Kurt (Loretta) Vanderburg, Peter (Karryann) Vanderburg, Lynn (Scott) Nairn, and Laurie Hayes. Betty will be missed by many friends, relatives and neighbours. The Conley family wishes to extend their gratitude to the compassionate staff at Finlandia Village. At Betty’s request, there will be no service. Donations in memory of Betty can be made to Finlandia Village SISU Foundation. Our Grandma was more than a Grandma. She was as tough as she was loving and always the biggest person in any room. Her sharp humor and deep love for her family will live on. May the winds of heaven blow softly, and whisper in your ear how much we love and miss you and wish that you were here. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home, www.lougheed.org.
