Obituary for Janina Pitura (Cieszko)

PITURA, Janina - With heavy hearts we share the news of Janina’s passing, peacefully in her sleep on March 20th, 2020, at Pioneer Manor. Beloved wife of the late Kazimierz (Karl) predeceased 2009. Loving mother of Ursula (John Skowronski), Susan (Andrew Fiore), and Linda (David Patrick). Cherished Babcia of Lilly and Willem. Predeceased by her parents, Adam and Jozefina Cieszko and sisters Mary and Halina. Survived by her brother Walter (Barbara) and nieces and nephews in Poland.
Janina worked at the former Sudbury General Hospital for 20 years in the dietary/cafeteria department. She loved her work at the hospital, loved being with people, and people loved her, as she was a vibrant, funny, and friendly lady. She was a very giving person and was always ready to help others, especially new families coming to Sudbury, by preparing packages of clothing and household items to help them out. She was an excellent cook and took pride in preparing her delicious family Sunday dinners, featuring many Polish dishes, always made from scratch. She enjoyed having family time together, laughing and sharing stories. We will miss her very much.
We would like to extend our sincerest thank you to all the staff of the Trillium Section of Pioneer Manor for the kind and compassionate care you gave Janina.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Due to COV19 the family will have a private service on Wednesday at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home. Interment in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery.
For those unable to attend in person, the service can be viewed online at www.livememorialservices.com.
