David was born May 16th, 1928 in Windsor, Ontario. He spent his early life in Elgin, Brockville, and Cochrane, moving to Sudbury in 1945. He and Eleanor built their home in the mid 1950’s and he lived there until a few days before his death at the Maison McCulloch Hospice. He was a high school shop teacher with the Sudbury Board of Education at Lasalle Secondary from 1961 to 1988. He was a dedicated volunteer at Camp Manitou Bay of Islands from the late 1950’s until his last visit there at the age of 90. He was inherently curious, figured out how things worked, followed international news, believed in planting trees, and enjoyed nothing more than setting off with Sheila on a land or water exploration with a small backpack.
