Jill was one of the gentlest and kindest persons I’ve ever had the honour to call “friend”. I was blessed to spend 4 years travelling and working with her. Jill had a laid back demeanour but, make no mistake, she cared very deeply for her students, family and friends. She was so proud of her family and shared their adventures during our daily trips. Then came Cooper! Stories of Cooper’s antics demonstrated her love of her beautiful golden! Jill was often a confident for me during difficult times. She was the voice of calm and reason in my life. I will miss Jill terribly and I send my love and prayers to Bob, Chris, Brittany, and Cooper!

My deepest condolences to Bob and family (and a few extra pats and cuddles for Cooper). May your happy memories of Jill give you comfort during this sad time. I always appreciated the friendliness extended to me when I visited Mike when he lived next door and I'll always think of Jill when I make carrot cake from the recipe she sent me.

Our deepest sympathy to Jill's family and friends. We didn't see each other often, but she truly was a gentle and kind spirit. May she rest in peace. Love from the Pigott/Francois family in Montreal.

Brittany & Chris, I am so sorry for your loss. I am very saddened to hear of your Mother's passing. I remember how wonderful her truffles were, and how kind she was to let us all have sleepovers with Brittany. She will be missed.

I was very saddened to hear of your loss. Jill's mom, Elsie, and my mom, Iris, were not only sisters, but great friends, and so Jill and I saw each other at important times throughout our childhood and early adult years. And though Edmonton is a long way from Sudbury, I always looked forward to our visits because Jill was unfailingly friendly, kind and conscientious. And as a child -- usually the youngest cousin of the bunch -- this meant a lot to me. My memories of Jill are of playing in her family yard in Garson and wondering if bears really would come eat me; of plunking out tunes on her piano; of a family camping trip on the prairies and staring up at the stars in the big sky; of fiery Crandell family gatherings at Simcoe or Trout Lake and dodging the aunts and uncles as they roared and laughed; of whirlwind tours of shops and country roads with Blythe; of conversations and dinners at Evelyn's apartment in Toronto; of visits to Calgary with Eleanor and Nip; of introducing Jill to my children; and most recently, of chatting with Jill when she came to my own mother's memorial 8 months ago in Edmonton. I very much regret that I'll be out of the country and unable to attend Jill's memorial this Saturday -- but on behalf of my partner Diana Wark, and our children Piper and Roman, please accept our most sincere condolences.
In sympathy,
Leif Stout
