Obituary

In Loving Memory of
Aniela “Nina” Cichomski (nee Wojcik) was born May 26, 1926 in Polanach near Lwowa, Poland. Her parents, Piotr and Paulina Wojcik were murdered by the Germans in a Concentration Camp when she was a girl. The same fate met her sisters. Marte and Dane. Dane died during the bombing of the German Luftwaffe and Marte, a doctor, was shot by a German soldier while performing surgery on a patient. The fates of her family members traumatized Aniela to the end of her life. At the young age of 15 years, Aniela was taken prisoner and worked slave labour in a bomb factory in Leipzig. Such was the fate of intellectual families in Poland. After the war, she came to Montreal, Canada where Aniela worked in a hospital for the mentally ill. In 1951, Aniela met and married her soulmate. Waclaw Cichomski (predeceased 2016) and together they moved to Sudbury where she resided to the end of her life. Aniela had been employed with the Sudbury School Board. She was a member of St. Casimir’s Church. Aniela kept in contact with friends in both Canada and Poland until the end of her life. Aniela left behind her neighbours and friends especially those of St. Casimir’s Parish. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord.

Wieczne odpoczywanie racz Jej dać, Panie.
A światłość wiekuista niechaj Jej świeci.
Niech odpoczywa w pokoju.

Kochana Nina. You are now at peace reunited again with Walter, your soulmate. Your life here on earth was certainly far from easy and for all that you endured may God our Heavenly Father grant you everlasting peace as you so deserve. I will miss our talks and your warm smile.
