Obituary

BORLEY- Royston George “Roy”

A beloved resident of Pioneer Manor for 7 months, Roy died in peace, surrounded by his loving family and dedicated staff. Son of May Barker and Ted Borley (both predeceased). Roy was born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. Mourned by his best friend, the love of his life for 49 years, Margaret (Marshall) Borley. Roy is also survived by his sister Edna Hill of St. Mary’s, her daughters Linda and Andrea and her son Allan. Sadly missed by sisters-in-law: Joan (Yvan Gunville), Betty (Ted Szilva, predeceased), Dorothy (Richard Robidoux), Bonnie Barber and Sheila Anne Marshall (both predeceased). Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, neighbours and his bowling league and loved ones in England.
After completing his Masters Degree in Social Work at the London School of Economics, Roy initially practiced front line social work in England and later in administrative positions both in England and Canada. Socially aware and committed to service in his community, Roy was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Dear Margaret, I was so saddened to learn of Roy's passing. Please accept sincere condolences from the entire Hancock family. We have made a gift in his memory to L'Arche Sudbury. I will never forget what a wonderful friendship he and Molly shared over so many years, or the wonderful care he took of her as she declined. They were both such committed social workers and passionate advocates. I am sure that Roy's significant contributions to the Sudbury community will not be forgotten. He was a very kind and dear man and will be missed. With deepest sympathies, Martha

MARGARET & FAMILY: My sincerest sympathy! Knowing you & Roy were married for 49 years-- speaks highly to others to work together to sustain a permanent union. Being each others best friend means you shared each others life in happiness or sadness. You dealt with adversity together & loved immensely!
Though his death is overwhelming especially @ this time of the year--be comforted that his love will comfort & make you stronger as you as you continue your journey in life! Happy memories will sustain you!! I send you hugs, Margaret!
