JOKAT, Adam Joseph
January 26, 1937 – December 16, 2019
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Adam Jokat (82) on Monday, December 16, 2019. Loving husband of Margaret Jokat. Father of Brian, Kathy (Peter Shaw) and Patricia. Grandfather to Jordan Dozzi, Olympia Jokat, Mackenzie and Sam Shaw, Veronica, Liam and Morgan Kitching.
Predeceased by Adolf and Anna (parents), brothers Emil, Edward and Ludwig, sisters Marianne, Anna, Emilie, and Frida. Survived by sisters, Helena, Elsa and Erna.
Adam was born January 26, 1937 in Germany. The 11th of 12 children.
In 1952, Adam arrived in Kapuskasing with his sister Helen and husband, Henry. He moved to Sudbury in 1955 where he met and married Margaret O’Keefe in 1961. He worked at the CPR and retired from Falconbridge in 1998.
Adam loved to camp, hunt, and fish. He served in the Irish Regiment for 3 years, umpired, refereed, coached and was a St. John’s Ambulance volunteer. He was always involved in his children’s activities and was very proud of his grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly.
His sense of humour, kindness and patience will truly be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 12 – 2pm. We could always count on Adam to have great comments during Sam's hockey games, thinking of you all at this time. Hold all the wonderful memories close.

I remember when Peter and Kathy first met, Pete was so excited that Adam could help him work on his car!
That was Adam, always obliging, easy going, and very loving. I saw his love showered on Mackenzie and Sam over the years as well. One image, from many years ago now, that has stayed with me, was Adam on the grass at Nephawin Beach off Paris Street in Sudbury. He was babysitting and playing with his two Shaw grandkids. Adam was on his stomach and Mackenzie and Sam were both on his back. They were all playing horsey. The smile and contentment on Adam’s face was what caught my heart. His pure love for them shone in his face.
My condolences to the Jokats especially to Marg, Kathy, Mackenzie and Sam.
