Obituary for Eero Hietala

Eero Kalervo Hietala, 78 years, died Saturday, November 30th, 2019, at Health Sciences North, Sudbury following a brief illness.

He is predeceased by his life partner Kaija Sutinen, and step-son Rauno Sutinen.
He is also predeceased by his sister, Liisa Laurui and brother, Kalevi Hietala. He will be sadly missed by sisters Aulikki Kerola and Leena Tapper. He also leaves behind sister-in-law Hilkka Hoffren (Kari Ekoluoma) and many dear nieces, nephews, and great nieces who will cherish his memory.

Eero was born in Sykarainen, Finland on March 16, 1941. He was a member of the Finnish army and arrived in Canada in the early 1970’s. He worked many years as a member of the local Carpenters Union in Sudbury. He was a kind, quiet man who enjoyed the company of friends at Leinala’s Bakery where he could often be found enjoying his coffee and pastries.

A memorial service will held in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, Saturday, December 7th, 2019 at 11:30am. (Friends may gather after 11:15am Saturday). Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to Finlandia Village or NCF would be appreciated.
