STRAUSS, Ernst Hans
March 2, 1927 – November 21, 2019

It is with deep sadness that we, that the family of Dr. Hans Strauss, announce his passing. After a period of declining health due to heart disease, he died peacefully at Health Sciences North, at the age of 92.

He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, son John, daughter Heidi, son-in-law Jeremy Mimnagh, grandchildren: Chloe Strauss, Max Strauss and Liam Mimnagh, and, in Germany, niece Cornelia Strauss and nephews Friedrich and Matthias Strauss.

Born in Leipzig, Germany, Hans immigrated to Canada in 1954. He first worked as a furrier in Montreal then went on to earn his PhD in economics from McGill University. He moved to Sudbury in 1967 where he taught at Laurentian University until 2002.

Hans had a creative and adventurous spirit. He loved to paint, take photos, sing in the choir, travel, fish, boat and cross-country ski. He poured much love into the family camp, the site of many great family memories.

Dear Pat, please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of Hans, he was such a kind man and I'm very happy to have had the pleasure of knowing both of you. I moved away and unfortunately lost contact with you as you also moved and my mail came back to me.
May you find comfort in knowing that you are both in my thoughts often.
R.I.P. Hans
