Obituary for Ronald Joseph Austin Andrews
Dr. Joseph Austin Ronald Andrews died peacefully at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, Ontario on Monday, October 28, 2019 at the age of 90 years.
Son of Austin and Vita Andrews, Ron was born and raised in Timmins Ontario. He was the older brother of Philip (predeceased, Mimi) and Mary (Frank Diamond, predeceased). Ron was a 1954 graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. He was a member of the ODA and the Sudbury District Dental Association. The first resident dentist to setup a practice in Levack, Ron retired after 38 years. He married Ledia Zardo in South Porcupine, on August 20, 1955 and was blessed with eight children: Mary Catherine (Mario Policicchio), Austin (Pam Tuttle, predeceased), Ron (Loretta Ronchin), Joan (Darrell Beers), Kim (Jon Barrett), Nancy, Lynn (predeceased) and Jim (Sherri Lynn Zangari).
Amusing grandfather of Michael (Paige), Andrew (Stephanie) and Katie Policicchio, Mattie and Carly Andrews, Lorron and Ronnie Andrews, Elizabeth Beers, Robyn, Jon, Jim, Andy and Jill Barrett and Brett, Kyle, Tiana and Justin Andrews. Great grandfather of Isabella, Julie and Luke Policicchio. Special friend of Lynne Belanger, Anne Thibert and Ryan Laplante.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and all activities involving family. Otter Lake camp was where he and Ledia relaxed and entertained family gatherings.
Burial Mass at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 30 Church Street, Levack, Wednesday October 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment in the Maplecrest Cemetery, Onaping Falls.
