Obituary

In Loving Memory of
Maria (DeChellis) Fabiilli
Saturday October 26th, 2019 at Finlandia Village Sudbury.
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Domenica Fabiilli (DeChellis) surrounded with family by her side. Born in Pacentro Aquila Italy on May 16th, 1930 where she met and married the love of her life, Teodoro Fabiilli, predeceased in 2007. She was the loving mother of Joe (Irene) Rob (Lise) and Rick (Debbie). Forever cherished Nonna of Kari, Steve (Stephanie), David, Darren (Andrea), Rebecca and Samantha. Bis Nonna to Shayne. Dear sister to Pasquale DeChellis (Ines) of Welland. Dear sister in-law of Enrichetta Ramunno (Mario) of Richmond Hill. Predeceased by her parents Lina and Giuseppe DeChellis, and her brothers Carmine and Pasquale. Maria will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, the U.S. and Italy.

Maria was a very religious woman. With her kind heart, she dedicated many hours happily volunteering for the church and visiting the elderly at nursing homes. Her passions could be seen in her flourishing gardens and in her cooking, which she always had ready to serve at her dining table that was often filled with her cherished family seated around it. Those who knew Maria will forever remember her homemade pasta and gnocchi, her homegrown peas she picked straight from the garden, her caring nature and her beautiful smile.
Family would like to thank the amazing staff in the Haapa Unit at Finlandia Village for their exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

I want to offer my sincerest condolences to Rick, Rob and Joe. When I look back at my child hood and the time that was spent in the Fabiili's basement watching hockey or the back yard playing Risk the one constant that was present was the way we were always greeted by Rick's mom. She was always smiling, friendly, generous and kind and made me (us) always feel welcome. Her Italian pastry that she always seemed to have just made was always offered and it was thoroughly enjoyed. Many years have since past and I still look back at those times fondly. Know that I will be thinking of your mom tomorrow. May she rest in peace.

Sending my heartfelt condolences to you Joe/Robert/Rickie. Thinking of you all as you celebrate your mother’s remarkable life. Maria was my second mother growing up next door - she always looking out for me and not holding back with an opinion or two when she felt I needed it. I have so many wonderful memories ... like how kind she was to my parents (a caring friendship for over 50 years). And her famous "lemon cake" that she baked for me (and Amalia) when she heard we were coming for a visit. I'm happy to say that I eventually got her recipe and we enjoy it often. I have imagined her up in heaven with your dad and my parents celebrating their unity once again. RIP Maria ... I will treasure my memories of you. SORRY I'm not able to attend the service. Hugs Angela
