Obituary for Lorraine Patricia Stratton (Swartz)

Lorraine Stratton (nee Swartz) passed peacefully on the early morning of Monday, August 26th, 2019 at the Elizabeth Centre, Val Caron, at the age of 73. It was the quiet passing of a beautiful woman, surrounded by family holding vigil for a life cut short by Alzheimer’s.

She will never be forgotten as the loving mother of Lana (Cory), Lisa (Edmond), Randy (Shandi), and Julie (Jay), a loving sister to Raymond and Sylvia (Barry) and daughter of Adeline and Joseph Swartz both predeceased. Lorraine was the loving wife of Jim Stratton for 40 years. Together they travelled the world, often with family and maintained a summer home on Geneva Lake. They lived in Toronto until Lorraine needed full time nursing care and then moved back home to Sudbury. She will also be remembered with deep affection by Jim’s children Cathie, Joshua (Angela), and Megan.

Most importantly, she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity of spirit and the love she shared with a great bunch of kids for whom she was known as “grandma”, “great grandma” or “auntie”: Ashley, Olivia, Madeleine, Genevieve, Kaitlyn, Karlee, Braedyn, Joshua, Patrick, Milyssa, Matthew, Kalvin, Natalie, Natasha, Joanne, Danny, Adeleine, Esmae, Oliver, Mia, Simon, Maeve, Paige, Jamie, Chris, and Sophie.

Lorraine was special; she covered us all with love, hugs and kisses; she encouraged us with her consideration for others and kindness towards all; she spoke to us from the heart, with her quick smile, and her tears and her big brown beautiful eyes. We will always miss her but we will never forget her because of the special moments each of us shared with her.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at the Elizabeth Centre.
