In loving memory of Normand Quesnel who passed away on Friday, July 26th, 2019 at the Maison McCulloch Hospice at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Kathryn Lemieux-Quesnel. Loving father of Gary (Joanne) of Coniston, Robbie of Sudbury and stepfather of Kim Shields (Larry) of Blezard Valley. Cherished grandfather of Anastasia, Phillip (Tawney), Destiny, Emily (Jeff), step grandfather of Eryn and Amy and great grandfather of Janaya, A’shanté, Cayden, Azarius and Ashton. Predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Maria (Grimard) Quesnel and brother Leo Quesnel and sisters Jeannine (Ray) Conti and Pauline Quesnel. Born and raised in Coniston, Norm worked for Inco for 31 years and retired at the age of 51. He worked at many jobs during his time at Inco, driving heavy equipment and locomotive engineer. He enjoyed to fish, hunt, study nature, was a fishing guide, wood carver, a drummer for many different bands and a loved to cook. He was the director of the Northern Gospel Music Association and volunteered at Health Sciences North for twelve years. Norm was on the original board of directors for the “Pitch in for a Day” across Canada, Alaska, U.S.A. and Columbia. He was also a radio announcer for the Christian Radio Station CJTK and loved to dance at the Minnow Lake Legion. His greatest joy was his family and being there for them whenever they needed him. Norm was a very wise, kind and gentle soul, soft spoken and very understanding. He loved his family unconditionally, the Lord very much and read God’s word from the Bible every day.
A memorial gathering with be held on Wednesday, July 31st, 2019 at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent Street, Sudbury from 3-5pm with words of remembrance at 5pm and a reception to follow. The family respectfully declines flowers, if desired, donations to the Elgin Street Mission would be greatly appreciated.
