Obituary for Jeremy Meyrick Mahood

MAHOOD, Jeremy Meyrick - of Sudbury, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019 at home, with his family present. June 9, 1949 - June 4, 2019.
Beloved son of Jean and H.H. Kitchener (predeceased). Loving husband of Eileen for 44 years. Cherished father of Erin and Meghan (Jeff). Loving papa to Samantha, Rachael, Jeremy, Hannah, Rosaleen, and Michaela. Special nephew to Albert Magee predeceased (wife Joyce). Special grandson to David “Poppy” and Violet Magee both predeceased. Lovingly remembered by the Magee family.

Jeremy was Senior Pastor of All Nations Church for 40 years (1978 - 2019). For several years he co-pastored with his father who founded the church after leaving Belfast, Northern Ireland, for Sudbury. Jeremy received his B.A. from Dominican College in New York in 1978. He was ordained by the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec in 1981. He completed his M.A. in Counselling at Luther Rice Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia in 1993. He then went on to receive his Doctorate of Philosophy from Rushmore University in 2007.

Jeremy was raised in Sudbury but his love of music led him to post-secondary education in New York where he developed a music career there before returning to Sudbury in 1978. Throughout his time at All Nations Church, he was involved in many community programs including integrated housing for seniors and families (The Landmark); long-term chaplain for the Sudbury Police Services; Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club; The Living Nativity - providing an opportunity for the community to celebrate Christmas. More recently, he was life coach and chaplain of the Sudbury Wolves, and thoroughly enjoyed attending games and supporting the young hockey players and coaches. Jeremy will be greatly missed by the church congregation and staff. His energy, positive outlook, entrepreneurship, and unique ability to help others are what defined him. He had a unique ability to apply God’s Word to peoples’ lives.

Jeremy had a love of the outdoors. He enjoyed sailing with his family, especially on the North Channel, and treasured his time spent at his Manitoulin Island cottage. His gift of music and love of piano prevailed throughout his life, always ready and willing to entertain those who enjoyed music.

Jeremy’s faith in Jesus Christ was the motivation for all that he did. He leaves a legacy of a vibrant community at All Nations Church, open to all who are seeking peace in their life, hope for the future, and faith in God.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness…” 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
