Obituary for Robert Russell Davies
In loving memory of Robert Davies, 66 years died peacefully Friday, May 17, 2019 surrounded by the love and prayers of members of L’Arche Sudbury.
Beloved son of Art and Lucy Davies (both deceased) and brother to Arthur and John Davies.
After living many years in the Huronia Regional Centre in Orillia, Robert found his home with the L’Arche Sudbury Community in 1983 when he was welcomed to Emmaus House by Roma, Rita and Peggy. Robert took time to get to know people and befriended many Core Members, Board Members and Assistants through the years. Robert also attended the Cec Woods Center, where he developed additional friendships.
He lived his life following the golden rule of Hillel, “What you yourself hate, don't do to your neighbour.”
Rob was sensitive and compassionate, a quiet and gentle friend to many.
He had a unique sense of humor. He enjoyed teasing friends with a twinkle in his eye followed by a friendly chuckle.
A celebration of Rob’s life will be held on June 6th at 11am hosted by the L’Arche Sudbury community.
