Obituary for John Fred Jaworski

John Jaworski (January 15, 1934 - May 16, 2019)
We want to say our fondest goodbyes to a dear husband, father and friend who passed away surrounded by family. Survived by his wife Dorothy (nee Signoretti) of 63 years, his son Paul Jaworski (Tiffany Schier), his sisters-in-law Valerie Allison (Rod), Linda Savard (Gerald predeceased) and their families.
Born and raised in Coniston, John worked at Inco for over 40 years. He was the only son of the late Michael Jaworski and Mary (nee Pachkowski), both predeceased. John's greatest passion was travelling the world with his first love and best friend, Dorothy. A natural storyteller, these adventures were regularly published in the Northern Life.
Social and outgoing, he enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Anyone who visited could count on immediately being offered a beer, a coffee or his signature martini. Playing cards at the Caruso Club and going for coffee with "the guys" was a weekly event. He relished the casino experience, particularly Las Vegas and later, Bay Mills, regaling friends with stories about his winnings, rarely mentioning his occasional losses.
A true nature lover, John could often be found in his backyard: hand feeding birds and chipmunks, bringing food down to the raccoons in the ravine or tending to his vegetable garden. Those close to him enjoyed the fruits of this labour year round as dill pickles, homemade borsht and the secret spaghetti sauce he learned to make from his Italian mother-in-law.
John had a long history of community involvement, some of which included coaching midget league baseball, leading the St. Charles College Parents Guild and several senior roles in the Elks. All of this was complemented by frequent contributions to many local charities.
He will be remembered as kind, generous and loving by all who knew him. He was incredibly proud of his son and never went a day without saying, "I love you" to Dorothy.
He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
A Memorial Mass will be held in his honour at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 40 Notre Dame Ave. on June 15 at 11:00 a.m. A lunch reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation.
