January 18th, 1942 - May 8th, 2019
In his 78th year, Seppo Virtanen “Findian” of Birch Island passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8th, 2019 on a beautiful sunny day at his favorite place in the world; camp.
Loving father of Wesley (Annette), Lisa Witzke (Geoff) and David (Carrie). Proud grandfather of Shaylla, Kurtis, Sarah, Nicholas, Jordan, Megan, Alyssa, Braydan, Ethan and Davis and great grandfather of Jorden, Kaydince, Andrew, and Deacon. Predeceased by his parents Taisto and Britta Virtanen. Dear brother of Ulla and brother-in-law of Leo Tastula. He will be sadly missed by his special friend Edith Flesch and many nieces and nephews. Seppo will also be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his McGregor Bay family and friends who each played a special part in his life.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Andy and Mary Robinson for being there and a very special thank you to Murray Still and Mark Hovingh for taking the scenic boat ride back to the landing.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 25th, 2019 at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home (233 Larch Street, Sudbury) from 1:00 - 4:00 pm with words of remembrance at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Northern Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
