Obituary for Teresa Doan (Reilly)

DOAN, Teresa - On the morning of Saturday, March 30th, 2019, peacefully in her 99th year, our loving Mom Teresa Doan (nee Reilly), was reunited with her late husband our dear dad, Varnus Doan. She will be sadly missed by her children Maureen Bartolucci (Rick), Lorraine Duncan (George), Jim (June), Carolyn Donovan (John), John (Mary), Mike (Nancy) and Barbara French (Mike). Teresa also leaves behind her 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Warm, Heavenly embraces await her as she is greeted by her son Patrick, her grandchildren Christopher, Trisha and Michael, and her great-granddaughter Jenica. She is the adored aunt of many nieces and nephews in Canada, the United States and Ireland. Her dearest friend, Eileen Fagan feels blessed to have shared fifty years of wonderful memories.

Teresa was the last surviving sibling of 9 children born to Michael and Maria Reilly, in the small village of Tullinahoo, Co. Mayo, Ireland. She met her husband, a Canadian soldier and moved to Cobalt, Ont. in 1946. Soon after, the small family of 5 moved to Sault Ste. Marie and became a family of 9. She was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, wife, and fabulous friend to so many people. The fresh baked aroma of Teresa’s homemade bread was enjoyed by anyone who walked by our little house on Montgomery Avenue. All were welcome in Teresa’s kitchen.

Teresa is survived by sister-in-law, Marjorie Wellar (Barry), brothers-in-law, Reg Doan (Irma) and Max Doan (Orpha Jane).

No words can ever describe our deep appreciation for the care, devotion and kindness shown to our mom by the Birch Lane staff of the FJ Davey Home. We can’t thank you enough for helping us and our mom feel that she had a place to call her own.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Sunday, April 7th, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church on Monday, April 8th, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Paul Conway officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the FJ Davey Home would greatly be appreciated by the family. www.northwoodfuneral.com
