Obituary for Alexandra "Sandy" Coffyn (Cay)

Alexandra “Sandy” Coffyn (Cay) has passed her neighbourly duties on. She was born in Inverness, Scotland June 26, 1930, father William Cay, mother Alexandrina Cay (MacVicar). Her special neighbourhood has lost its greeter, its neighbourhood watch, its friend and its resident baby sitter of animals, children, and houses. She graduated to hall monitor in the nursing home. Sandy lost her fight and peacefully joined friends and family on February 10, 2019. She was surrounded by family and friends. Special thanks for the care and respect given to her by St. Gabriel’s Villa.
Sandy worked for Bell Canada for 35 years, starting her career at Adelaide and King in Toronto. Many decades later she retired in Sudbury. Her retirement years were devoted to family and friends. She participated in many horse related events throughout the years, even being known as grandma to many. She was active in Sudbury Pony Club and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Sandy immigrated to Canada from Scotland and married Phillip Coffyn (predeceased) in Toronto. Her children Sandra (Graham) and Derek (predeceased) were very important to her, and she leaves behind two adored grandchildren, Elizabeth and Kevin (Cassidy). Carole Craig and others were special friends to her. Sandy leaves behind many, many friends. What she would call her families. Sandy is resting at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, on Saturday February 16, 2019. Friends can join us for a gathering from 12pm to 1pm with service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at 1pm and reception to follow upstairs in the fellowship room. In lieu of flowers donations to your choice of charity would be appreciated.
