Obituary for John Lalonde

LALONDE, John - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Lalonde. John passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on Saturday February 2nd, 2019. He was the son of the late Arthur and Elsie (nee Adams) Lalonde. Brother to Alexander (Bunny), Arthur (Bud), Margaret (Babe), Betty, Tom and Mary Lalonde, all predeceased. John is survived by his sisters Winifred Thompson (nee Lalonde), and Maurice and Carole (nee Lalonde) Goddard and by his brother Robert (Bobby) Lalonde.

He was the devoted husband of Lina Lalonde (nee Petrilli). Loving father to Carrie Ann, Louis, John and Shelley Lalonde (nee Critchley). Caring brother-in-law to Krishna (predeceased) and Teresa (nee Petrilli) Ahuja. Cherished uncle to Kristopher and Simon Ahuja as well as countless other nieces and nephews throughout Canada. Adoring grandfather to Logan, Caelen, Grayson Lalonde and Alessandro Urso. John will also be sorely missed by his loyal companions Kodiak and Chief.

John was a kind and selfless man who lived a quiet and simple life. He had two guiding loves in his life, his family and his faith. He fought every health challenge with bravery, dignity and determination and treated every single day as a blessing. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing with his family. He spent almost every weekend in hockey rinks throughout Ontario and when he wasn’t taking his children to hockey he liked to spend time in the bowling alleys. He loved to swim and in his youth became a Chief Eagle Scout and lifeguard.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Killian deBlacam for providing years of exceptional care. We would also like to thank the staff at HSN, the Sudbury Regional Cancer Center (Dr. Noble) and the staff at Bayshore Home Care Solutions for their excellent care. Our sincere appreciation goes out to Cathy Heffernan and Anne McNamera for their kindness and friendship to the family.

Visitation will take place at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent Street at Hazel Street, Sudbury, on Wednesday February 6th, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
