Obituary

Sharon Margaret Urquhart (nee Lawrence) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones at Maison McCulloch Hospice on Monday, January 21, 2019 at the age of 74. Survived by son Lawrence Urquhart (Sudbury), and mother Dorothy Lawrence (Sudbury). Predeceased by husband James Urquhart and sister Krista Paige.
Sharon was born and raised in Nova Scotia. She graduated from Acadia University and moved to Sudbury with her husband Jim. She was a long time teacher of Family Studies and English at Nickel District Secondary School and later Northeastern Secondary School. She was an active member and dedicated Sunday School teacher of St. Andrew United Church in Coniston.
Sharon is remembered for her wicked sense of humour, her sense of adventure, world travelling, her love for nature, and her love of books. She was a skilled gardener, weaver, spinner, knitter, and hostess. As well as being a lifelong learner. Sharon's collies participated successfully in many Canadian Kennel Club shows. One of the things she was most proud of was completing the El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage walk in Spain.
Sharon's family would like to thank the health care providers, service providers, and friends for their care and kindness as they helped her through her lengthy journey dealing with cancer.
Memorial service to take place at St. Andrew United Church, 58 1st Ave, Coniston on Saturday January 26, 2019 at 11:00 to be followed by reception immediately afterwards.
As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to Coniston Food Bank or St. Andrew's United Church (Coniston) Memorial Fund.
Arrangements entrusted to Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home.

Dear Mrs. Lawrence and Lawrence.
I've just read of her passing and my heart sank and I feel hollow. I don't think I have to say, Mrs. Lawrence, how much I - we all - loved her. She was our darling dear Sharon - to my mother, my brother and me. Lovely, funny, smart and wise. She was her wonderful self. I send you my sincerest sympathy, Mrs. Lawrence and Lawrence. Sharon was the kind of person we should all aspire to be. Loving, giving, with a great enthusiasm for life. A joy to be around. And her astonishing courage and unfailing determination during her battle with cancer is simply awe-inspiring. We will miss her so much.
Our most sincere condolences to Dorothy and Lawrence and everyone who loved her.
