Obituary for Thomas George Lee Clark (George Lee Goldie )

Print
It is with profound sadness that his loving family announces the peaceful passing of Thomas George Lee Goldie Clark on November 26, 2018. A distinguished resident of Capreol, Tom was born November 5,1925 in Englehart, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Laura (née Hack). Cherished and loving husband of Joan (née Shannon) predeceased November 30, 1998. Beloved father to Shanlee Tyler (Colin) of Mississauga, Tom (Kim) of Sudbury. The proudest grandfather to Clark (girlfriend Katie) of St. Catharines, Melanie (boyfriend Aaron) of Toronto, Curtis of Windsor and Emily of Sudbury. They were his pride and joy and never missed an opportunity to brag about all of them and their accomplishments. They in turn also took every opportunity to brag about Grampa and all he shared and taught them. Dear brother of Robert of Pennsylvania, brothers-in-law Herbert and Calvin (all predeceased). Brother-in-law to Betty (née Shannon) husband George of Toronto and an uncle to a niece and nephews in Southern Ontario. Also many cousins in Southern Ontario and Sudbury who also have fond memories of their time growing up together. Special friend to Pauline Judd of Hanmer.
Tom was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy. He then moved to Capreol in 1949 where he met Joan and married in 1951. He became a machinist for the CNR retiring in 1986 with 30 years of service. He was an active resident of Capreol prior to and after retirement. A volunteer fire fighter in the 1950’s, a 60 year member of the National Mason Lodge #588 and achieved 50 year Past Master status in 2011. Tom was also a recipient of a 70 year continuous service pin from Capreol Legion Branch #179 in 2016. He was also instrumental in the establishment of Seniors On Skis at the Capreol Cross Country Ski Club. One of his many accomplishment was skiing 2024km on the trails in 1988. Many memories of golfing and family time were created at the French River cottage. Tom was very well known for all of the homemade pasta he made for different fundraising events and appreciation dinners throughout the community. His chili was a mainstay at the ski hill over the years.
Our families would like to thank all the Nurses, PSWs and Doctors on the 8th floor HSN. Their caring and support provided was beyond exception. Special thanks to NP Emily Sheppard, Drs. Noble and Pianezza. Special appreciation to supportive neighbours Sue and Ernie, Lena and Mario.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Lougheed Funeral Home Hanmer/Capreol Chapel, 4605 Michelle Drive, Hanmer. The family will receive friends at 1 pm with a Celebration of Life at 2:30 pm. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Capreol Legion Branch #179 Elevator Fund, Capreol Ski Club, Trinity United Church in Capreol or Capreol Curling Club would be greatly appreciated as per Tom’s request.
