Obituary for Ronald Stewart Collins Jr.

Ronald Stewart Collins Jr.
Collins Jr., Ronald Stewart

We have lost one of the Good Ones! It is with very heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Ronald Stewart Collins Jr. on Thursday, January 21st, 2016 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury surrounded by his loving family at the age of 59 years.

Ron was a Beloved Son a Loving and Devoted Father, an incredible Big Brother, and a very caring and generous Friend.

Son of the late Ronald Collins Sr. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his mother Denise Collins, loving daughter Megan Lalonde, adoring brother David (Christine) and uncle of Evan, Kelsey Moxam and Ryan Longlade. Special friend of May Beech and his loyal canine companion Jet.

Ron leaves behind a legacy in all of the lives that he has touched with the friendships he has made throughout his life. The pride and joy of his life is his beautiful daughter Megan, with her, Ron’s love and light will live on.

Ron’s life passion was curling and he was one of Sudbury’s and Northern Ontario’s finest curlers. In 1974 Ron and his high school team represented Northern Ontario at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Ron continued to “hurry hard” and chase his dream of representing Northern Ontario at the Men’s Canadian Curling Championship – The Brier. In 2002 his dream came true as Ron along with Skip Tim Phillips and his teammates represented Northern Ontario out of the Sudbury Curling Club at the Calgary Brier. Ron and his team sprinted out to a 4-0 record and were the crowd favourites.

Ron was an entrepreneur his entire life. In his twenties Ron wanted to open “Da-Best-Bar” that Sudbury has ever seen. In 1986 Ron and his partners purchased a franchise from one of Ron’s best friends Gary McDonald and opened the “The Original Mingles”. Mingles was Sudbury’s #1 bar for 15 years. To this day, memories of the “No-Rules-Nasty-Parties” at Mingles are still shared amongst many….WOO-HOO Rockin’ Ronnie!

Ron was also the owner of the Auto Outlet and had a very loyal customer base for over 10 years.

Our heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of the ER and ICU at Health Sciences North for your compassion and care during our difficult time.

As per Ron’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will take place Saturday, January 30th, 2016 at the Sudbury Curling Club from 4-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.

You Lived…You Loved…You Laughed…You were and will always be Loved and missed by so Many!
