Ever since we first met, skipping rope and colouring with sidewalk chalk on Osias street, I think it's safe to say that we were inseparable. Stephanie had this personality that made you want to be around her. I remember the days that I would call her after dinner to come out and play, and she would say "Can't. I have to clean my room." to which I would reply: "Want some help?"; or "Can't. I have homework." to which I would reply: "Is it French?" (no wonder she never really picked up the language); I even went over to help her copy lines one day, because I just wanted to be around her. I'll never forget growing up beside her, jamming to Blink 182 in her bedroom, talking about boys, having sleepovers almost every weekend. The Bertrands became my second family. Even when the family moved away (from just across the street to a 5-10 minute drive away), we kept in touch, but being in high school and making new friends, we started to grow apart. I moved to Ottawa, and we started texting. The last time I saw her was 2 weeks before her accident. We spent a good 3 hours just reminiscing about the good old days. I thank God that He gave me a last chance to be able to do that with her. When she left, I walked her down my driveway, like I used to do so many years ago, and she said to me "You are such a beautiful mom and you have such beautiful babies." I will always remember and cherish those words. Stephanie was such a great person, and will be missed by so many. She will be forever in our hearts.
