Obituary for
John "Johnny" Cowling
In Loving Memory of John “Johnny” Cowling, 48 years
Thursday, January 24th, 2013 at his home after a battle with depression.
Beloved father of Brianna Cowling of Waterloo. Cherished son of Dave and Adele (Campanaro) Cowling of Peterborough. Dear brother of Dan (partner Tom George) of Toronto and Mike (wife Stacey Thompson) of California. Loving partner of Lori Glibbery of Hanmer. Dear uncle of Alison, Emily, Zoë, Alex and Cassidy. Dear friend of Brianna’s mother Karen (Carvell) and her parents Jim and Lorraine Carvell. Also sadly missed by Lori’s children Brandon and Hannah. Lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends. John worked as a superintendant at Domtar for over 25 years. He was a perseverant, determined and organized, driven man, who always saw things through. He was a loving, generous, compassionate, selfless person who offered an outstretched hand to everyone. He had a great love and respect for nature and enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Anstruther Lake in the Kawarthas as well as on the West Arm of Lake Nipissing. There, he found great strength and serenity. He was passionate about athletics, being involved as both a participant and a volunteer. As well as being very philosophical, Johnny was a great debater and enjoyed challenging discussions. His light will live on in all those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of John's life will be held at the Lougheed Funeral Home Hanmer/Capreol Chapel
