Life Story for Irene Jacqueline Lafontaine (Seguin)

In loving memory of
Irene Lafontaine (nee Seguin),
88 years
on Friday, April 17th, 2015 at Health Sciences North.
Irene was a beautiful woman, lady, possessing a strength within her that was God given. Her honesty of what was moral was evident to all. Integrity was part of her character and would not compromise on her convictions to truth, right and wrong. Irene was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who enjoyed the quietness and peace within when casting a fishing line over her boat, camping and playing cards – ahh yes Playing cards that’s another story which she challenged!! Irene had the most beautiful flower gardens with help, from dad and brother Ron. The toiling was worth it all because the end result was simply beautiful. Irene worked at the Sudbury Regional Hospital for 23 years in the housekeeping department. Just to say she was indeed one of the best and performed her tasks with great pride, whether in the emerg. dept. or ICU she never lagged behind. The day that the Regional Hospital closed its doors Irene (mom) was a patient there and then transferred to the Health Sciences North when they first opened their doors. A poem title “These Hands” was written by Irene and family members, on the wall of the old hospital. Irene was a member of Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Parish which was very important and part of her faith. There is not enough space to describe the beautiful attributes and character Irene possessed. Her strength within was second to none and we will boast of her simplicity to materialism, yet possessing that something that many can learn from. Raising 6 children was no easy task, however as some old saying goes “These are the cards that are dealt to you” and she played them well. Beautiful and original in integrity all the way home to meet her husband whom she loved dearly; looking forward to seeing him again and meeting Jesus Face to Face. To our mother: thank you for your friendship and dedication. From her family we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts, to the church ladies who came faithfully to administer communion every Friday. To Pere Legault for you compassion and time we are grateful. To all nurses and physicians who cared for our mother during all times of her hospitalization and never forgetting the great care she receive for the PSWs that cared for her at home and hospital. To all her friends and family we say “Thanks a Million”. One last word “we say Good Night Irene, Mom” we will not only see you in our dreams but face to face again where there is no pain. We love you forever and will miss you always.
