Obituary for Frank Martin Swiddle

Frank Martin Swiddle
In Loving Memory
of
Frank Martin Swiddle
It is with deep sadness that we announce his passing, comfortably in his sleep, at Health Sciences North on Thursday, January 22nd, 2015 at the age of 97.

He began his rich and full life in Arbourg, Manitoba, and moved to Sudbury in the late 1930s, when he started work for INCO in Levack, where he worked for almost 40 years. In Levack, he met and married Rose Piaskoski, and they spent 74 loving years together. He was the son of Joseph and Mary Srutwa, predeceased.
He is survived by his wife Rose and their three children, Merry Tunney (husband Edward Tunney, predeceased) of Mississauga, Frances of Levack and Ronald (wife Elizabeth Kari) of Sudbury. He was predeceased by his brothers Mike Swiddle of Garson, John Swiddle of Edmonton (wife Audry predeceased) and Carl (spouse Dorothy predeceased) of Sexsmith, Albert and by his sister Ann Lazarenko (husband Sam predeceased) of Walden.
He is survived by his sisters Kay McLellan (husband Arthur) of Sudbury, Nellie Petryshen (husband Charles) of Sudbury and Minnie Carver (husband Arthur predeceased) of Walden.
He was the loving grandfather of Glen Tunney (wife Leah Sta. Ana) of Mississauga, Catherine Tunney Braeken (husband Richard Braeken) of Oakville and Gregory Tunney (wife Vanessa Lobo) of Mississauga, and step-grandfather to Shannon Kari of Toronto and Siobhan Kari (husband Mark Manzer) of Winnipeg.
He was the loving great grandfather of Matthew, Rebecca, Mariska, Kaylee, Jenson, Ainsley and Carys, and the step-great grandfather of Thomas. He is sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, and a great many other relatives and friends.
Frank enjoyed nothing more than the active outdoor life, and the woods around Levack allowed him to hunt and fish to his heart’s content. Often he would simply go out for a lengthy walk in the woods just for fresh air and exercise. He especially enjoyed summers spent at the family camp on Windy Lake, where many happy times were had fishing and swimming. He remained active throughout his life, and could often be seen gardening and walking around Levack, even at a quite advanced age. He was a life-time member of the Elks. He remained sharp and interested in life throughout, and spent his final hospital stay doing puzzles, watching hockey and joking with the nurses.

Special thanks to the Heart Failure Clinic, Dr. Costo-Vitale and all his staff.
