Obituary for Frances Aileen Olivier

 Frances Aileen Olivier
OLIVIER, Frances Aileen (Nov. 10th, 1923 - Jan, 21st, 2015)
Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 91 after a life well-lived in the service of her God, her community of Coniston and her parish of St. Paul the Apostle. Aileen was born in 1923, the second child of Allan and Mary McKerral (predeceased) and was one of seven siblings. She is survived by her 3 dear sisters Alma McGauley (Bill predeceased) of Vancouver B.C., Katherine Boyd Cresswell (Keith Boyd, Bob Cresswell both predeceased) of Coniston and Mary Olivier of Ottawa. She is predeceased by her husband Eugene Olivier, son Allan, 3 brothers George, Robert and Pat McKerral and numerous brother and sister-in-laws. She has one surviving sister-in-law Jean McKerral of Calgary Alberta.
She was born, raised and educated in Coniston and spent the war years working in a small arms munitions factory in Toronto, returning home where she married Eugene Olivier in 1946 and settled into life as the owner/operators of the Esso Service Station in Coniston. They ran the business for 20 years and Aileen did the bookkeeping while she raised their family of 7 children. She is survived by son Brian (wife Elaine) of Ottawa, daughters Rosemary (husband Dave Rutherford) of Breslau, and Ann Marie (husband Gilbert Labre) of Blezard Valley, sons Claude of London, Paul (wife Debbie) and Mark (wife Teresa) both of Coniston. She is also greatly missed by her 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered always for her amazing birthday cakes, creative Hallowe’en costumes and any number of projects that needed her help and special attention! She was always up for a challenge!
She was an integral member of St. Paul’s CWL and church choir for many years, serving on the executive in various positions for over 25 years. She was also a leading figure in the Girl Guide movement in Coniston as well as the R.C. Legion Branch 427. She believed in community and the importance of working together to improve and enhance her town of Coniston and was a tireless leader and mentor for decades. She will be remembered as a woman of faith and a woman of strength.
She enjoyed summers at the family camp on West Arm, knitting, curling, singing and preparing marvelous family meals enjoyed by all that gathered around her table.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Gabriel’s Villa who treated her with loving care and respect over the last years she spent living there.
