Obituary for Tiziano Antonio "Ciano" Oliver

Tiziano Antonio "Ciano" Oliver
It is with deep sadness that the family announces that long-time Coniston resident Tiziano (Ciano) Oliver passed peacefully on October 26th, 2014, three months shy of his 96th birthday, with family by his side. Beloved husband of Lina (Crema) of Coniston. Cherished father of Sandra Pastre (Ennio) of Coniston, Bernard Oliver (Suzanne) of Sudbury and Ann Fox (Steve) of Coniston. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Carlo Pastre (Shannon), Laura Pastre, Justin Oliver (Lauren), Michael Oliver (Laura), Robert Pastre (Carolyn), Christa Oliver (David), Adam Oliver, Sarah Fox (Kevin), and Katherine Fox (James). Beloved great Nonno of Alessia, Caterina, Cole, and Ali Pastre, Ethan and Isabella Oliver, Valentina and Xavier Pastre and Matteo, Juliana and Adriana Oliver. Cherished son of Maria (Bon) and Giovanni Oliver. Beloved brother of Gino Oliver, Rena Martinello (Arturo), Emillia Venturi (Primo), Leo Oliver (Lillian), and Eddie Oliver (Yolle) all predeceased. Cherished brother in law to Leno and Maureen Crema also predeceased. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Darlene Neeley for all her love and care.

Born in Coniston in 1919, he married Lina in 1948. He worked at the INCO Copper Cliff Smelter as a skimmer for 34 years, retiring in 1975. Ciano was happiest when surrounded by family. A World War II veteran, he returned home and married his sweetheart Lina, enjoying 66 years of marriage, all the while remaining in his own home. He could be found singing church hymns around his home or garden, always in a good mood and grateful for all he had. Ciano loved gardening, cooking, music, fixing things, carpentry, fishing, blueberry picking, following Canadian sport teams, and helping others. A gifted musician, he was proud of his time playing in the Army band and enjoyed playing the clarinet, violin, piano, and mandolin. He would eagerly do anything for his children and grandchildren. A deeply religious man, he loved to spend time taking care of his church. He will be remembered as a man who loved and cherished life and family and saw the good in everyone. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and goodness to all who knew him.

Donations to the upkeep of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Coniston, would be greatly appreciated.
